This course category will include presentations relevant to recent advances relevant to the practice of office based anesthesia. Drugs such as remifentanil, propofol and dexmedatomidine, among others, will be introduced or reviewed. Newer techniques, including the use of infusion pumps, LMAs, capnography and innovative upper airway devices, among others, will also be introduced or reviewed.
This course category will include presentations relevant to the delivery of anesthesia as it impacts patients at extremes of age, and patients with diseases such as hypertension, asthma, cardiac rhythm disorders, diabetes, obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, substance abuse and psychiatric diseases, among many others.
This course category will include presentations reviewing currently used drugs such as benzodiazepines, narcotics, anesthetic vapors, nitrous oxide, barbiturates, propofol and reversal agents, among many others. Key topics relating to the physiology and pathophysiology of the neurologic, cardiovascular, endocrine and pulmonary systems will also be provided.
This course category will be the most heavily populated, covering such diverse areas as pre-anesthetic evaluation, emergency drugs and equipment, monitoring and untoward peri-anesthetic issues, including upper airway obstruction, laryngospasm, bronchospasm and pressure and rhythm disorders, among many others. Post-anesthetic issues such as delirium, nausea and vomiting, and recall of perianesthetic awareness will also be included. Legal presentations will also be offered.
The concept of the anesthesia delivery “team” has become reality. Presentations in this course category are specifically focused on topics relating to anesthesia assisting including introduction to anesthesia, patient assessment, physiology and anatomy, monitoring, emergency drugs and proctocols. Genuine “hands-on” training can be completed in each individual office, under the auspice of the doctor, and guided by video tutorial scenarios, which are then repeated performed at each office.
