Course Description: This presentation will introduce the what, how and why's of ECG monitoring for patients receiving light to moderate sedation in the dental office.  The pathophysiology and significance of commonly encountered dsyrhythmias will be reviewed.  This program is offered in conjunction with the ADSA moderate sedation course.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe the components of a lead II ECG tracing and discuss their significance
  • Identify normal vs. abnormal tracings and discuss their significance
  • Describe approaches to patient selection / management when confronted with peri-anesthetic dysrhythmias
