Course Description: Pediatric patients present with many anatomic and physiologic differences that mandate alterations in anesthetic technique. This presentation will focus on office-based pediatric anesthesia, including a discussion of anesthetic agents, complications and monitoring.

Course Objectives:

  • List 4 anatomic differences in the pediatric airway vs the adult
  • Explain unique physiologic differences in the pulmonary and cardiovascular system
  • Discuss 3 salient features of pre-anesthetic evaluation for pediatric patients
  • Define the pharmacology of benzodiazepines and ketamine
