Robert C. Bosack, DDS

Understanding Anesthetic Adversity - 207

The delivery of anesthesia in any setting is not without risk. The environment is complex, uncertain and ever-changing. Human performance of this potentially hazardous task can be unpredictable and imperfect, especially in times of urgency, intensity and time-pressure. Risk and Human Error cannot be eliminated. Risk and Human Error can be reduced and managed, by eliminating a culture of blame and punishment and replacing it with a culture of vigilance and cooperation to expose and remediate systems weaknesses, which, in combination, often lead to error and injury. AATP program

Each assistant must register individually and create a separate account.

This is a package program that includes 9 ~ 1 hour video presentations (lectures), followed by a 5 hour simulation module to be completed as a group in your office under the auspice of your anesthesia provider.  Watch the program, then perform the recommended tasks: role assignment during a crisis, emergency drugs, airway assessment, monitors, rhythm recognition and various scenario drills.

After completing the simulation module, complete the final survey, print your transcript and affix it with your current BLS card to the document at the end of the simulation powerpoint. Once it is signed by your anesthesia provider, you have documentation of formal anesthesia assistant training !!!
